How To Achieve A Good Connection Using A High End Speaker Wire

By Henry Thompson

Majority of the speakers that are bought from the stores do not come along with speaker wires. Individuals are therefore required to have an idea on the kind of wires available in the market and how they function. The right kind of high end speaker wire should therefore have the standard thickness and be able to fit well into the system.

Some wires in the shops are joined together with connectors whereas others are not. When in need of doing an outdoor connection the best kind of lines are those that can be buried into the ground. However, the UL-rated ones with CL2 or CL3 labels are the most favorable to be used inside walls and ceiling of a building.

Wires have varying thickness and they are rated using the American Wire Gauge values which are inscribed on the wires. These values for instance may range between twelve and eighteen to display thickness. A lower value of gauge means that the cable is thicker in size. This further means that the resistance to the flow of current becomes less.

Based on the functions that are to get handled, several sizes of wires are used during connection. Thicker lines are used in instances where the applications portray high power or to have long runs. Thinner lines with high gauge values are however used when the applications require shorter runs. This therefore eases work and is considered cost effective.

In order to identify the amount of cable that is needed for connection, a string should be used to measure the distance between the receiver and where the speakers are to be located. The string length is then measured and an extra length is added to ensure an easier connection. Furthermore, the extra length is to avoid problems that may result from any error that might occur.

The lines that are fixed within a wall when a connection is done contain either two or four conductors. When a four conductor is in use, only a single cable is required to join a receiver and a volume controller in a different room. A two conductor cable then connects this volume controller with the several speakers in that room. Four conductor cables also function well with stereo-input speakers.

A right connection of negative and positive leads within the speakers and the receiver often results in proper functioning of the speakers. Poor sound quality is what results when the connection of negative and positiveness leads is done wrongly. Presence of bare strands may result to short circuiting this making it necessary to use line strippers.

The speaker wires terminals should not be ignored since they play an important role during the connection of properties. Spring clips and binding posts are the two different types of terminals present in speakers. The spring clips are the simplest to use since they accept both pin connectors and bare wires. On the other hand, the binding posts are used in making solid connections whenever there is need.
